The flight from Anchorage takes about 20 minutes and offers a fantastic scenery. Safely on the ground we are met by our guides that will take us to our lodge for the week. The closest river is only a few minutes drive away and is easily accessible by foot. It hasn´t got the biggest rise of steelhead but nice average weight and it is seldom fished. The other one of the main rivers is a bit bigger and will give all anglers a good chance to hook a wild steelhead. Here are smaller nymphs and fish egg imitations usually a safe bet.. The third river is also the most spectacular, it´s turquoise water is a hint that it originates from a glacier source and will be fishable even in heavy rains. Here is most of the fishing done by boat although wading and fishing from the banks is also possible. There are plenty of steelhead in the river and good chances to strike a lot of fish. The average weight of steelhead is here normally 10-20 lb.
Anchorage is best reached via a connecting flight from Canada or the US. One way from Europe is with Iceland air via Reykjavik to Seattle. A stopover in Anchorage is usually needed and the flight to Kenai can be booked via Ravn Air. Trips to the Us requires a VISA or a ESTA permit depingn on passport holder. A program that includes travel and fishing, from Saturday to Saturday.

The lodge offers excellent accommodation in true Alaskan style. The location of the lodge is strategic in relation to the different river fished keeping transfer times to a minimum. The lodge consists om a main timber frame building and four guest cabins with a scenic view over Kachemak Bay. Each cabin has got a full kitchen, your own gas heater, a small dining room, bedroom and private WC and shower. There is a rich wildlife just around the lodge and sightings of moose, eagle, seals and whales are not uncommon. Each day a hearty breakfast, a lunch package and a three course dinner i served in the main lodge.
Since the rivers are mostly quite shallow ,and easy to wade, a lot of the fishing on the smaller rivers are done walking. During the week there are also possibilities for boat fishing for those that are more comfortable choosing that alternative. Most of the time an upstream cast with an egg imitation and an indicator is the productive way to fish although fishing on the swing with streamers is also possible.. Besides Steelhead the rivers will hold both Silver salmon (Coho),Dolly Vardon and resident rainbow trout this time of year. Both on handed and light two handed (switch) rods are used depending on the situation. A full floating WF line is more or less the best type of line to use since the fish will sit in less than 1 meters of depth. Tippets in 0.25 mm – 0.40 mm (20-30 lb).
The guides will provide perfect imitations of salmon eggs. Depending on the river and depth / speed of the water. For streamer fishing will deciver patterns in black/blue and orange/pink work just fine. For the smaller river will an egg sucking leech pattern work.
