Sidorovka is about 20 km long and runs from its source on the nearby mountains tundra towards the sea through a beautiful canyon where the camp is also located. The site is far away from roads and human impact. The only way to get here is by helicopter. All fishing on both sides of the river is reached on foot. You will need to be reasonable fit to access all fishing spots. Many pools are possible to wade and from the beginning of June to August, the midnight sun makes it possible to fish 24 hours a day. Sidorovka get it`s main water from melting snow and rain and even during a downpour the river is clear as vodka!
Travel, program & map
The helicopter to Sidorovka starts from the city of Lovozero. You can get there by plane via Moscow / St. Petersburg to Murmansk and further with a bus transfer. Expect an overnight in Murmansk on the way in and out. Fishingnorth also arranges a bus transfer from Lulea round trip for mainly larger Scandinavian groups.Visa is required for entry into Russia.
The program is from Thursday - Thursday.
Day 0: Departure from international destination to Murmansk via St Petersburg or Moscow and overnight in Murmansk or departure from Lulea (Sweden) by bus approx. 10.00. Arrival Lovozero 24.00 pm and overnight.
Day 1:Departure to Sidorovka Paradise camp with helicopter about 1 pm. Arrival at camp, installation in camp, information, assembly of equipment. Fishing in the evening.
Day 2-7: Whole fishing days.
Day 8: Helicopter departure to Lovozero at approx.1 pm. Departure to Murmansk and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Murmansk airport and domestic and international flight.01.00 +1
Accommodation & food
Paradise camp / Sidorovka is built for 6 anglers and consists of fixed tents of a spacious army model that holds two beds with stove and a wooden floor, it works great and gives plenty of space.A separate inflatable sleeping pad and a good sleeping bag is recommended even if the ones on site are okay.Bring mosquitoes repellent and possibly an extra mosquito net to put on the tent entrance. Another spacious tent serves as a dining room for breakfast and dinner. There are also showers,lavatory and a sauna on the camp ..The food is of good quality, a hearty breakfast with eggs, pancakes, juices etc.. The lunch packs are taken with you from the breakfast. The dinner is 3 courses and includes Russian specialties, robust soups, grilled meat and fish. Drink is included; however, not alcohol witch is paid on site.The camp manager and other staff take care of you on a nice way.
Fishing, equipment and flies
Along the Sidorovka river an angler will find great pools with many opportunities for a varied salmon-fishing.Here are chances for a very productive fishing “on the swing” and further into the season there is also the possibility of a “dry fly " fishing with bombers, hitch flies or foam varieties . During your week, you and your fishing partner will rotate to different beats insuring all anglers access to the best pools.
For salmon fishing, a two-handed rod 12-14 ft. # 8-9 is to be recommended. Although many pools can be reached with a single hand rod, it is much easier to fish and control big fish with a two-handed. A solid reel with at least 150 m 30 lb backing backing is needed. An extra rod and reel is wise to bring. Lines to bring are shooting heads, Spey or full length lines in floating or possibly intermediate - Tippets in monofilament or fluorocarbon 0.35 to 0.45 mm / 18-25 lb

Productive flies are: Golden Killer in size 4-8 tied on a golden double or single hook. Sunray shadow on tube in various sizes (from 10 cm to micros), salmon flies in green / black or yellow / black work well. The water is very clear and the flies should be sparsely dressed. Bombers or foam dry flies for salmon in size 4-6
